Hillingdon has been named the greenest borough in the country on receiving four more Green Flag awards for its open spaces.

The four new awards have been presented to Ruislip Lido, Manor Farm, the Rural Activities Garden Centre and Yeading Valley Meadows, taking the total number of spaces to be awarded Green Flag status to 28.

Green Flag awards recognise high standards in horticulture, cleanliness and sustainable practices, as well as providing welcoming, safe environments and encouraging community involvement.

Councillor Jonathan Bianco, cabinet member for finance, property and business services, said: "It is a wonderful achievement to be crowned the greenest borough in the country.

“We have the most green flags but we also have the most land in London under Green Flag status too.

"I am very pleased that the council's continued investment in its green spaces has been recognised. We will continue to work hard to maintain our parks and green spaces for residents and visitors."
