A primary school with the capacity for 720 places has opened at a former RAF site in Uxbridge.

The John Locke Academy will provide places for students in Reception Year to Year Six, will form part of St Modwen’s development at St Andrew’s Park, where the construction of a new road and improvements to access to the school from Park Road have now been completed.

Residential developers, Persimmon and Charles Church, are developing more than 500 homes at the site. Around 14,400sq m of commercial space, a hotel, a theatre and a 16.1-ha public park will also be provided.

James Stockdale, development manager for St Modwen, said:  “The new road and access together with the opening of the new school are significant milestones in the regeneration of RAF Uxbridge.

“With education, business and leisure facilities and a large public park to be developed alongside housing, a whole new community is being created and we’re now another step closer to bringing this vision to life.”
