Hillingdon Council has allocated £3.4 million from its 2015 to 2019 budget for its Uxbridge and Hayes Gateway schemes, which will see improvements made at access points to the towns.
The Gateway Hillingdon project will see new road surfacing, better pavements, safer lighting and improved seating installed.
Parking and loading bay improvements are being made as part of the council’s "Stop and Shop" initiative, which will allow all visitors and residents of the borough to gain access to free 30-minute parking. Further low-cost parking will be introduced for residents.
The council plans to engage in consultation with local businesses and residents to help increase footfall into the borough’s towns and improve the character of the area.
