Hillingdon Council has given the go-ahead for major improvement works at West Drayton station.
Network Rail will extend platforms to accommodate 200m trains for the Crossrail project: the train service will stop at West Drayton.
Step-free access will be provided to every platform, with three new lifts installed and a new entrance made of glass and steel built. There will also be a covered walkway between the existing building and a new footbridge.
The upgrade work features new lighting at the station and enhancements will be made to customer information screens, station signage, help points and CCTV.
Matthew White, Crossrail surface director, said: “The upgrades at West Drayton will provide local people with a vastly improved station.
“While the existing Victorian building will remain the focal point, the new additions will ensure that the station is ready for the arrival of Crossrail services in 2019.”
Bennetts Associates designed the new-look station.
